The top pic is sexy.
The rest, meh.
Her photoshoots this year are for the most part, very disappointing to me. But then she had set a standard that was so high in past years. And I'm a male pig, apparently.
It's just not my style. As a guy I find most of these new shoots un-sexy, or non-sexy. Maybe she is just going for a more girlie-thing style now.
I think her photoshoots even at the time of 'Let Go,' are much more beautiful, brilliant and sexy. But then, before this year she used to be so much more shapely. She is such a rail now. Again, still quite nice looking, just not as. Maybe it's just, father time. *sigh*
The interview is mostly ridiculous IMHO. But she is totally silly when she talks about GL.
'This record is... about the vocal performance and the quality of the production...'
The vocal performances do not get to shine because the production gets in the way IMHO.
So suddenly Deryck and Avril are better producers than Dr. Luke, The Matrix, Don Gilmore and Raine Maida? I don't think so. She claims in the CNN interview the production on GL is more laid back. Uh, no. Quite the opposite. It's over-the-top slick, layered on like gooey syrup. There is nothing stripped down about GL, except that the electric guitar is muted.
Part of it is poor production, part of it is stylistic choice. Just doesn't agree with me. She kills my favorite instrument, the electric guitar, a weapon that has played a prominent role in her previous albums. They play a big part of why I liked her music. Oh, well.
I will agree GL is more about her music and her songs because she wrote several alone. The results show IMHO that that is unfortunate.
Maybe she will get better at songwriting, and at production as well, down the road. But why wait - go ahead and crown yourself now, Av. Like you've already conquered it.
I don't blame her for bragging, since she was questioned by her record company, and heavily criticized in reviews. It's natural to toot your own horn when others are not.
Course it ain't bragging when you can do it, when you can back it up. And she can't. Not yet.
'[GL is not as] aggressive and bratty and in your face...'
O RLY?
A song about dating a million guys in order to mess with a man's head. That's not bratty?
And then in another number, yelling over and over for the dude to 'just shut up!' I think 'Push' is Avril's most boy-bashing, man-nasty, in your fucking face song, ever.
Considering Avril does not give any detail, any explanation, does not tell us what the guy is saying, or what is so bad about it.
One is left to assume it's just because she as a girl knows everything in the world about life and love, and guys don't know shit...
He finally gets to say something: 'Maybe you and me/ We can just start over/ Just the two of us/ We can get a little closer."
Sounds to me he is trying. But her answer: JUST SHUT UP!
She says 'it's gonna take the both of us.' How is that gonna happen, when he has to shut up!
She really means, it's gonna take just me. I don't give fuck what you have to say, Mr. Man.
She just keeps screaming like a shrill madwoman. JUST SHUT UP!
Oh yeah, that is love. Telling your partner to bite their tongue. While you scream endlessly at them at the top of your lungs.
I know a lot of folks here love GL and Push. Go ahead and feel free to express it.
I just will not shut up, just because Avril is yelling at me to just do it.
As a guy, even as a music listener, I find 'Push' highly offensive and annoying. That song puts me off GL and the new Avril, big time.
Maybe I should just shut it off!

Like if the guy in Push had called Av a bitch, or a whore, or had put her down, or had lied to her, of even if he had told her to shut up, I'd be like, yeah, give him hell, Avril!
But she doesn't say what he was saying that was so frustrating her. We only get her side of the story. We only hear her screaming back at him.
It is funny towards the end, when the guy and Av are both singing...
'So follow me/ Honestly / And you will see...'
