This week Avril-Media received a rare treat - HQ video of raw footage from behind the scenes of the filming of the video, "Complicated." The footage is of the filming of the band playing at the skate park. [I checked w/site-owner/admin Avrilfan and he gave me the OK to post.]
I am not the uploader, just merely the poster of this file. I can tell you that the video is the result of a mammoth task on the part of the uploader. A lot of hard-drive space, as well as time and effort has gone into this video presentation. We at A-M are so lucky and grateful. And it is hoped here that there will be much more rare fun to come from our dear uploader...

The finished music video helped to propel "Complicated" and Avril herself to the toppermost of the poppermost.
From Wikipedia: "Complicated" is a song by Avril Lavigne and was her debut single, released in 2002 from her debut album, Let Go. It was written by Lavigne and The Matrix (Scott Spock, Lauren Christy, and Graham Edwards), and produced by The Matrix. The single reached number one in Australia (for six weeks), New Zealand (for nine weeks) and Mexico, number two on the Billboard Hot 100 and number three in the United Kingdom. Based on its chart performance, the song is Lavignes second most successful single and was one of the most successful releases of 2002. Lavigne tied a record set by Natalie Imbruglias "Torn" when "Complicated" held the number one spot on the contemporary hit radio chart (which tracks air play on the radio) for eleven weeks in a row.
The song was ranked at number 197 in Blender magazines "The 500 Greatest Songs Since You Were Born". Billboard Magazine ranked it at #83 of the "Top 100 Singles of the Decade." And Rolling Stone Magazine readers voted it the 8th Top single of the decade.
[Let Go: As of June 2009, Let Go had sold over 17 million copies worldwide, becoming Lavignes highest-selling album to date. According to Billboard Magazine the album was the #21 top-selling album of the decade. A Rolling Stone readers poll named Let Go as the fourth best album of the 2000s.]
The "Complicated" video, directed by The Malloys, starts with Lavigne asking her band-mates if they want to "crash" the mall. They respond with enthusiasm, and skateboard there. The video features Lavigne and the band harassing shoppers and employees, causing havoc around the mall. This is intercut with footage of Lavigne and the band performing the song at a skatepark. The video was shot in 2 days and during the shooting the mall remained open.

twm: The team of brothers Emmett and Brendan Malloy, later directed Avrils "He Wasnt" and "Girlfriend." With a lot of help from the video, GF went on to become Avrils most successful single. The latest video from The Malloys is Ke$has "Blah Blah Blah."
According to the now defunct fansite AvRiL AlWaYs, taken from her bio written September 2002:
She won! Avril took home a MTV Video Music this past August for "Best New Artist in a Video," for "Complicated." "I totally wasnt expecting it," she said after winning. "Today my manager said, "Shouldnt you at least think about what youre going to say just in case?" And then when they called my name, I was like, "Uhh." This is my first video. Its crazy."
Avrils "Complicated" video outfit has also been temporarily inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame for a special exhibit. "Im like this new kid in this music scene, but at the same time, Im like, "Hell yeah, Ill give you my clothes!"

To find more rare, bootleg, behind the scenes videos (all from 2002 to early 2003) 1), Many are located in the site's Top Ten files. That list is in a box on the left-column of each page of Avril-Media. 2), If you click on the File List -- left-side column, bottom of this page (or any page at Avril-Media) -- you will find a box, with a File List link in it. Go in there, and look towards the right, under file credits. All files credited to Avredas, Anonymous, or AvrilsAnonymous. You can download the links from the file list. Or, say with two browser pages open to Avril-Media, you can copy and paste a file's title into the Avril-Media Search Engine at the top of the Avril-Media page, in the toolbar. That will take you to the file where you can get more details.
BTW, all these rare file posts have been recently, personally checked, and there are multiple choice download links, that are working for all of them. Have fun! | |

abbey -- based on my online search, there is no official making the video for Complicated. I am guessing because it was her first video, and she was an unknown at the time, MTV was not prepared. | |
